The Next Floor - (2008)

Ok, so all I could find was a trailer for this short film. Don't blame me, blame our fascistic copyright laws (more like copyFIGHT, am I right Cory Doctorow??? Just kidding. I fucking hate you.)

What you don't get to see in this trailer is the banquet of viscera the dinner party insatiably gorges itself on. Waiters continually load the table until the mounting pile of organs and flesh cause it to crash down to the next floor, and then the next, and the next, and well you get the point.

If there's a film festival near you, see if they're playing this; it's the best 11 minutes I spent in the dark all last year.

The Intruder - 1989

Okay, I could have sworn that I posted this trailer before, but perhaps I didn't. Maybe I just watched it and, upon viewing this absolute treasure, passed out from the sheer excitement I felt having seen it. Anyway, it's about a guy who's killing people in a grocery store after hours. Sam and Ted Raimi both have parts. What else do you need to know?

Midnight Meat Train - 2008

No, this movie is not a decisive cinematic essay about southeast Asian politics in the latter half of the nineteenth century. It's about a fucking serial killer who murders on the subways and loves meat.

Critters 2-THE MAIN COURSE-1988

This movie is so emotionally confusing to watch. One minute your laughing you're ass off, then the next you're trying to hold back tears because the Easter Bunny jus' jumped through a church window with blood spilling out the side of his mouth.

This is basically how the whole movie plays out.

The Corpse Grinders - 1972

Ted V Mikels must have been pretty busy in 1972, the year he produced both this gem and the aforementioned Blood Orgy of the She-Devils. Are the movies any good? Who cares. The trailers are brilliant.

The plot to this movie is pretty straightforward: A cat food company about to go under decides to use corpses instead of quality meats, which in turn drive the cats mad enough to kill and devour their owners, having had a taste for man-flesh. Like the Birds, only without the spectacle of Tippy Hedron and several hundred blue-screened birds (or however that effect was achieved).

I think the real treat in this trailer is in the voiceover, much as it is in Blood Orgy - "Do you know what this is? It's a corpse grinding machine!" How could a line like that not spur you into the drive-in/video store/online DVD distribution center, your inner monologue echoing the title of this movie incessantly, daring you to witness the amazing cinema that is the Corpse Grinders?
